From March 9th through the 13th she willbe opening her gates again: The International Tourism and Trade Fair in Berlin. This is where the travel world from each and every continent will meet. But also the Berliners are happy, as every other Berliner loves to travel.

20% of Berliners said that they will spend moremoney on their summer holidays this year than they did last year.

Another 47% will spend about the same amount and only 25% declared that their vacations will be less expensive than in 2006. These are the results of a representative poll of the Forsa-institute for the Berliner Zeitung.

Particularly the young Berliners enjoy travelling: 61% of the 14-29 year olds are planning to travel during their summer holidays.Among the over 45 year olds it's only 43%.

The most popular destinations are other European countries: 51% of Berliners will choose another European country as their relaxation destination. 19% are attracted by the newly-formed German states, 15% by western Germany.

Another 13% are planning on travelling a little further. Yet the same statistic applies here: Younger people are attracted by the distance. 26% of the 14-29 year olds want to leave Europe and spend their holidays on a different continent.
