Mobility in Germany

Outdoor advertising reaches 86% of the people every day.

Mobility plays an important role for everyone. This is the result of the study "mobility in Germany" (MiD, 2002) of the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Housing. The survey of 50.000 whole households is the biggest cross-sectional study about individual mobility.

There are many good reasons for outdoor advertising!

Here a short survey of the numbers:

  • 86% of the population leave the house every day and are on the go for 83 minute on average.
  • An average of 3,6 routes and 39 km is covered every day. The important target group for advertising of the 14-59 year olds needs even 86 minutes and 46 km to reach their destinations every day.
  • Social trend: The breakup of the nuclear family leads to a higher mobility.
  • Business trend: Job-related mobility is gaining importance.
  • Free time: Everyone spends more time outside bicycling, inline-skating or vacationing due to easier and more affordable ways of travelling.
