Media planning Outdoor advertising:
More Single-person households

To live alone or with a partner is something that already developed in the 50s. Today about 40% of the population in Germany live alone and about 35% in two-person households. Statisticians predict 41% single-person households and 37% two-person households for 2025.

High Mobility

Specialists identify two developments as the cause for the increasing number of "small" households. The demographic development (increasing life-span) leads to an increasing number of one- and two-person households among people above 60 years.

But there will also be more single-person households among younger people. Primarily the professionally expected mobility and the decline of the birth rate are responsible for the fact that younger people move to single apartments. This development is documented by the mobility study of the German Government. The 14 – 59 year olds spend almost 1.5 hours a day out of the house. And this not only for job-related reasons. Unbound and independent as they are, the young generation spends more and more of it's leisure time outside.

The media planning

The media planning will adapt to this trend. As the winner, outdoor advertising will gain importance. It can advertise itself with increasing coverage of target interest groups
